Privacy Policy
TL;DR — The short version
- Copare does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
- All your snippets are stored locally in your browser only.
- No analytics, no tracking, no third-party data sharing.
- The only network request is the Buy Me a Coffee widget (optional, UI only).
Overview
Copare ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to create, manage, and expand text snippets on any website. This Privacy Policy explains what data Copare handles, where it is stored, and what is never collected.
Copare is developed and maintained by Donatien Rodriguez ("the Developer"). By installing or using Copare, you agree to the terms of this policy.
Data we collect
We collect no personal data. Copare does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information (PII), browsing history, keystrokes, or usage analytics.
The only data Copare handles is the snippet library you create yourself (shortcuts, content, groups, domain rules). This data:
- Is stored exclusively in
chrome.storage.sync— your browser's local/sync storage - Never leaves your device except via Chrome's own built-in sync (if you have Chrome Sync enabled)
- Is never sent to any server operated by the Developer
- Is never shared with any third party
Permissions explained
Copare requests only the minimum permissions required to function:

Third-party services
Copare includes a Buy Me a Coffee widget on the Settings page. This widget is bundled locally within the extension and does not make network requests unless you actively click the coffee button to open the donation panel.
If you interact with the Buy Me a Coffee widget, you will be directed to buymeacoffee.com, which has its own privacy policy. The Developer has no control over data collected by Buy Me a Coffee.
Copare does not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Sentry, or any other analytics or error-tracking service.
Chrome Sync
If you have Chrome Sync enabled in your Google account, your snippets may be synchronized across your devices via Google's infrastructure. This sync is controlled entirely by Chrome and Google — the Developer has no access to this data. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for more information.
Data retention & deletion
Since all data is stored locally in your browser, you have full control at all times:
- Export your snippets at any time via Settings → Export
- Delete snippets individually via the Settings page
- Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data from your browser
Children's privacy
Copare is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since we collect no data from any user, this requirement is inherently satisfied.
Changes to this policy
If this Privacy Policy is updated, the new version will be published at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
